KIREHE - As presidential aspirants begin to wrap up their campaigns, the Liberal Party (PL)’s Prosper Higiro, has said his government would focus on infrastructure, agriculture and water provision once he sails through the election due next week.
Higiro, who yesterday addressed over 400 supporters in Migongo village, Nyarubuye sector in Kirehe District, added that he would tackle the problem of poor feeder roads for rural development.
"I will give high priorities to agro-based cooperatives, so that farmers can access the necessary farm inputs and loans to boost their earnings,” he said.
Prosper Higiro noted that he would also lay modalities to provide markets for rural people’s agricultural produce.
"As indicated in our manifesto, improving people’s general welfare will be among our other priorities.”
He also promised survivors of Genocide that he will address their issues, especially those pertaining to property rights.
"I know most of you still have problems getting back either your land, or other property. But I will address the issue steadfastly.”
Charles Kamanda, PL coordinator in the Eastern Province, called on their supporters to rally other people behind the party.
"There is no shortcut…our candidate needs votes to deliver what he has been telling you and other Rwandans. So, please get organised, be calm and keep time, so that you vote well and vote PL on August 9,” he said.
Jean Claude Habumuremyi, one of the party supporters in Nyarubuye said he was primarily impressed by the party’s concern of recovering survivors’ property.
