NGOMA - The RPF presidential candidate, Paul Kagame, yesterday continued his campaign in the Eastern Province addressing over 80,000 people at Kabare School in Ngoma district where he was warmly welcomed by the jubilant crowd.

The candidate arrived in Ngoma at around 4 p.m. amidst thunderous applause and loud music. He took a few minutes to greet the excited supporters.

Shortly after he was introduced to the crowd by his campaign manager, Fidele Ndayisaba, Kagame told the residents that the plan remains the same and clear; building lasting peace, development and democracy.

He told the surging crowd that voting RPF 100% is itself democracy because it is the choice of Rwandans.

Speaking on his second rally of the day after Kirehe, Kagame told Ngoma residents that democracy is priceless and is not given as aid, but it is the people of a country who decide to give themselves democracy, not foreigners and intruders.

Backed by the massive support from the crowd, Kagame noted that democracy cannot be imported into the country but rather it’s the citizens who define which kind of democracy they want, to which the crowd replied in unison "we want you”.

He added that any such choice will be made by Rwandans come August 9 and that the day will determine the destiny of the country. Fronting his party to continue with the landmark achievements, Kagame said that Rwandans will not regret the choice they will have made in voting RPF.

Asking the resident what their choice would be between RPF politics which are pro-development and politics of hate, the mammoth crowd thunderously responded, with clenched fists "RPF, RPF”.

He called on the residents to continue improving their standards of living through hard work and remain with hope and dignity as Rwandans. He promised to continue delivering, once voted into power, and never to stray from the path that he has already set for the country.

A leading entrepreneur in the district, Steven Mugisha, gave a testimony on how he increased his income from Rwf 40,000, he earned as a driver. Today, he owns a business worth Rwf50m and 3 cars. 

Christine Murebwayire, a widow and a member of COOPROVIBA, a banana wine producing cooperative, also testified on how she was inspired by President Kagame’s call to be self reliant. 

She formed a cooperative with 16 other women to grow bananas and produce wine for export. They started with Rwf50,000 and today are worth Rwf50m and they want to set up a Rwf130m factory to process banana wine. They have improved their living standards.

Kagame is expected to address two other rallies in Nyagatare and Gatsibo districts today.
