Two young Rwandan filmmakers, Marco Rutabana and Faustine Niyigena are participating in the MAISHA workshop in Kampala. The duo is undergoing 25-days workshop alongside other regional and international filmmakers, where they are being trained in various things, including hands-on intensives in screenwriting, directing, producing, cinematography, editing and sound recording.

The duo is undergoing 25-days workshop alongside other regional and international filmmakers, where they are being trained in various things, including hands-on intensives in screenwriting, directing, producing, cinematography, editing and sound recording.
"We’re expecting to benefit alot through interacting with other participants and exchanging ideas with experienced regional and international filmmakers,” Rutabana said.
Rutabana and Niyigena are currently working on different films, including ‘Zebu’ and ‘Photo fish’, which will be released on Aug 13, at the National Theatre in Kampala, Uganda.
In interview, Musarait Kashmiri, the Program Director of MAISHA FILM LAB said the workshop is aimed at empowering visionary artists from East Africa by giving them with tools, knowledge and confidence to be able to tell their stories through film.
Maisha (which means ‘life’ in Kiswahili) is a non-profit training initiative for emerging East African filmmakers.
