GICUMBI - South Korean volunteers working under the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), have said that their government will, next year, dispatch a team of more volunteers to teach IT and Korean culture to Rwandan students.
The Korean Internet volunteers’ leader, Hyejin Kim, disclosed this last week at the closing of three-week training for 11 students of Byumba’s Academie de La Salle.
The training at Gicumbi telecenter, Gicumbi district, involved basic website and Photoshop graphic design, conducted by the South Korean volunteers.
"We shall carry out much longer training courses in IT and Korean culture to Rwandan students, so as to strengthen the existing cooperation between Rwanda and South Korea,” said Kim.
Closing the training, the Gicumbi District Executive Secretary, Sinese Museveni, hailed the volunteers for their commitment to teach IT skills among Rwandan students.
"This course would enable students work in photo studios during the holidays, to enable them acquire money to purchase text books and other necessities required at school”, said Museveni.
He assured the volunteers of the district’s full cooperation, to enable them extend their voluntary academic services in various schools of the district.
The students were each given a certificate of attendance.
