CSK’s head coach Prosper Mihigo believes his team has what he has described as "winning touch” to wrestle the national basketball championships title from rivals APR.

The Rugunga based CSK have lost just once in 11 games this season and lie behind APR on the table standing, having played a game less than the reigning champions whom they meet this coming weekend at Amahoro stadium indoor stadium courts.

Mihigo’s side will go into Saturday’s battle of the titans with the psychological advantage having beaten their more illustrious and successful rivals in the first round at the same venue in March.

CSK’s latest victims over the weekend were Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) and the (basketball) federation side, Ferwafa whom they beat 58-48 and 73-58 on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

However, what CSK did, defending champions APR matched them with convincing wins over Rusizi (67-42) and the National University of Rwanda’s side (90-65) on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

With both teams (APR and CSK) seeming not ready to lose any ground in the chase for the title, it sets up the best possible atmosphere for Saturday’s match-up between the two best sides in the country in a game that could well set the tone for the side that will on to claim the championship title.

And Mihigo believes his team have grown in stature and confidence to break the military side’s dominance, he said, "The team (referring to his CSK) has developed a winning touch and we are doing our training adequately with the main goal being to win the championship.”

"My key players, Aristade Mugabe (Point guard) and Bunene (Center) have been instrumental in our good and long may their good form and that of the entire team continue,” Mihigo stressed.
