60 firms trained on bond evaluation

The Capital Markets Advisory Council (CMAC) yesterday conducted training on bond valuation to a total of 60 corporate companies from both government and private sector.

The training, which took place at Hotel Laico Umubano, targeted industry professionals such as financial sector, Journalists, Lawyers, accountants, Public Relations Companies.

"The purpose of this training is to provide knowledge and assist the public and private companies the ways of accessing funds through debt markets,” said Olivier Kamanzi the Deputy Executive Director of CMAC.

Along with this workshop, there is another seminar scheduled today whose purpose is to   provide and develop human skills capacity to industry professionals (financial sector, Journalists, Lawyers, accountants, Public Relations Companies) through the equity markets  

Kamanzi also said that this training aims at informing companies with interest in raising funds through capital markets on how to go about it such as pricing of bonds.

CMAC is also in collaboration with Project Umubano with financial professionals from United Kingdom to establish working relationship through workshops and seminars activities.

To implement this relationship, CMAC is working with these resource people to develop capital market in Rwanda.

"This partnership will assist the capital market to develop and build our human capacity and on the other hand the project umubano will achieve its mission which aims at understanding of the realities of life in Rwanda,” said Kamanzi.
