A Rwandan genocide suspect who is charged in a Canadian court on Genocide charges has returned to court.
Désiré Munyaneza is being tried in Montreal under Canada’s War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity Act.
Munyaneza’s defense lawyers are providing proof that their client didn’t participate in the 1994 killings in former Butare Prefecture.
Canadian media reported this week that Munyaneza’s lawyer Richard Perras will provide Quebec Superior Court with more than 20 witnesses to testify that his client didn’t participate in acts of raping, looting and killing during the Genocide that claimed at least one million people.
