NGOMA- It was chanting, dancing as Party for Social Democracy (PSD) held a campaign rally at Cyasemakamba Football Grounds in Ngoma District, yesterday.
Over 3000 supporters attended the rally, a record turn-out for the party ever since their candidate, Dr Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo launched last month.

Addressing the crowd, Ntawukuriryayo, said that his party will win the polls that are slated for August 9.

Ntawukuriryayo, assured supporters that the time has come for the PSD to steer the country.

"We have been fighting for this kind of democracy since 1991…let everybody get it right, that this is what we mean when we say the time has come,” he said.

"It is time for all of you to know that PSD is ready for the presidential seat.”
Ntawukuriryayo added that if elected, his party will make fundamental democratic changes that will include; increasing women in leadership to 50%, helping the youth with development projects, increasing access to soft loans and addressing standing issues in health and education.

"We want to go beyond today’s 30% women presentation to 50. We are going to give the youth special attention to help them develop themselves. In short we want to end poverty in Rwanda,” he said.

Stanislas Kamanzi, the party campaign manager, told the cheering crowd that their candidate is formidable, and suitable for the tough job.

"Here is a candidate who has served in various capacities in this country. His background speaks volumes of success stories, so please just go down, and do the right thing on August 9,” he said.

The party chairman, Dr. Vincent Biruta, thanked PSD supporters for having turned up in numbers at such an important rally. He told them that with PSD, they are moving towards a bright future.

"PSD is a great party to reckon with, it has a strong and excellent plan for the country and its candidate is superb. I know those who are here are ready to vote PSD, go back in your villages and sensitise your neighbours and friends to do the same,” he said.

The rally was attended by PSD stalwarts across the country.
