Newcomers, Orion basketball club have completed the signing of young shooting guard Sano Gasana on a two –year contract.

The 23-year old most recently featured for College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho and Layton Christian Academy.

He was part of Patriots’ roster that competed and reached the semifinals during the inaugural edition of Basketball Africa League (BAL) held in Kigali in 2021.

After signing the deal, Sano told Weekend Sport that "I went for it because I can’t play for my school anymore. I played in the BAL and it was time that I remind those that forgot or that doubt that I can still play”

"It’s been good, it's very different but any good player can adjust,” he added

Orion were promoted to the first division, after they emerged runners-up during last season’s second division basketball.

They begin a new journey in the topflight league when they visit defending champions Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in league opener slated Friday, January 13 at Kepler University court.
