GICUMBI - Social Democratic Party’s (PSD) Presidential candidate, Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo, yesterday, assured party supporters that he will, in two years time, double teachers’ salaries, if elected President in the August 9, polls.
GICUMBI - Social Democratic Party’s (PSD) Presidential candidate, Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo, yesterday, assured party supporters that he will, in two years time, double teachers’ salaries, if elected President in the August 9, polls.
Ntawukuriryayo made the remarks while addressing about 300 party supporters at Gicumbi stadium.
"Teachers as pillars of development should be motivated to render their services with dedication, which is why my government shall set aside adequate funds to double their salaries,” Nawukuriryayo said amidst applause and cheering.
He further promised the residents of Gicumbi District, that he would support the increase of wheat production and market the market it with the slogan, "Wheat made in Gicumbi”.
The candidate said that he has been participating actively in the current government of National Unity to usher in good governance, democracy and justice.
"PSD contributed actively in putting up the rule of law after the defeat of perpetrators of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi,” he said.
PSD campaign manager, Stanislas Kamanzi called upon party faithful to vote for Dr. Ntawukuriryayo because he is a person of integrity, with a vast experience in politics of good governance.
"I have known Dr. Ntawukuriryayo, right from his school days, as a person who speaks the truth and is opposed to all forms of injustice,” Kamazi said.
A PSD supporter and resident of Rukomo Sector, Innocent Kalisa, said that he supports PSD because it is a party of patriotic Rwandans committed to steering economic development, unity of Rwandans and promoting the rule of law.
Gicumbi District Mayor, Bonane Nyangezi, welcomed PSD Presidential campaign team in the District and wished them a successful campaign rally.
Party supporters sung, danced and chanted party slogans. They urged the residents to vote for Dr. Ntawukuriryayo because "this is the time for PSD to serve Rwandans”.
