Rwandan cycling hopeful Eric Muhoza has completed a move to German UCI Continental cycling team, Bike Aid, on a one-year deal.
Muhoza, 21, who played a number of local races like Royal Nyanza Race and Musanze Gorilla Race as an individual, was announced as new rider for the German club on Wednesday evening, January 11.
"Bike Aid stands out for me especially because of its support to African cycling," reacts Muhoza via Bike Aid’s website.
Alongside Eritrean Dawit Yemane, Muhoza is the second African rider in the Bike Aid's 12-man squad for the 2023 season.
The rider showed his class and was among the best performing riders during Tour du Rwanda 2022 despite missing out in the top 10 in the race’s general classification.
The former VC Essartais rider attracted the attention of a number of European teams including Bike Aid when he impressed at last year’s Tour de l'Avenir in France.
Founded in 2005 in Germany as a non-profit association, Bike Aid is a professional cycling team, based on a cycling community with the aim to develop African cycling and athletes. The club has more than 1,200 members, contributors and sponsors.
Team Bike Aid is among 20 cycling teams that confirmed their participation in the Tour du Rwanda 2023 slated for February 19-26.
