I want to bring to your attention to the article published in your newspaper No.0081 dated 29, July, under ‘ Anti-malaria indoor spraying begins August,’ in which the author misquoted me as saying that "the Research Triangle International (RTI), a US Organization in partnership with the National Malaria Control Program (PNLIP) are funding the programme.”

The facts are that: Indoor residual spraying (IRS) for malaria control programme in Rwanda is funded by the US President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), through USAID to assist PNLIP of the ministry of health, in prevention and control of malaria.

Rwanda was selected by the US Government as one of the fifteen countries in the south of the Sahara to benefit from PMI funding.

RTI is a US Government contractor for IRS activities and provides technical support to the national malaria control programme in implementing IRS activities, in the selected districts of Nyarugenge, Kicukiro and Gasabo but not as earlier stated.

David Rugero is not the Director of IRS campaign, but the chief of the party, IRS programme for malaria control-Rwanda.

I request that the records be put correctly.
