RWAMAGANA - The chairman of the National Electoral Commission (NEC), Prof Chrisologue Karangwa, has reaffirmed his commission’s readiness to conduct the August 9 presidential polls.
Speaking to The New Times in Rwamagana, Karangwa, said that all the resources needed have been mobilised, including having an updated voters’ register and supervision team for the elections.
"I am happy at this point to inform all Rwandans and the world that we are prepared for the elections. The voters’ register has been revised and corrected,” he said.
Prof. Karangwa was flanked by the NEC vice chairperson, Fatu Harerimana.
Harerimana added that the distribution of electoral equipment, including ballot boxes, megaphones, indelible ink, among others would be made in time.
"All materials are at the districts and will soon be distributed to sectors…only ballot papers are still in Kigali for obvious reasons,” she said.
