Amavubi Stars are set to play about five international build-up matches before they start the 2010 World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Local football governing body, Ferwafa president Brig. Gen. John Bosco Kazura said on Wednesday that they have already contacted Egypt, Zambia, Burkina Faso and Kenya.

The federation is also seeking one other game against unidentified African power house probably in the West.

The friendly matches are part of the Amavubi’s preparations for the 2010 World and Africa Nations Cup qualifiers and according to initial arrangements; they would be played between February and April.

Kazura made the revelation during Wednesday’s press conference but declined to reveal the exact dates when Rwanda will face the proposed countries.

"We have written to five countries requesting for build-up matches however, we are yet to know exactly when the matches would be played," Kazura said.

Amavubi start their campaign on May 31 against Mauritania, travel to Ethiopia seven days later, before hosting Morocco at Amahoro stadium on June 14.

Amavubi will then fly to Rabat on June 21 for a return leg with the Northern African giants.

On September 7, the Amavubi team head to Nouakchott for the second leg against Mauritania before finalizing the qualifiers with a home fixture against Ethiopia at Amahoro stadium.
