BYANGABO/MUSANZE - The Liberal Party (PL), candidate in the Presidential polls, Sen. Prosper Higiro, yesterday rallied supporters in the Northern Province, pledging to promote modernization of agriculture and increase the capacity of cooperatives as way of fighting poverty.
BYANGABO/MUSANZE - The Liberal Party (PL), candidate in the Presidential polls, Sen. Prosper Higiro, yesterday rallied supporters in the Northern Province, pledging to promote modernization of agriculture and increase the capacity of cooperatives as way of fighting poverty.
Higiro who held four rallies in the province, said that the highly productive area, famous for its high yields in Irish potatoes, wheat and pyrethrum, needs to be modernized to target the regional market.
His rally at Byangabo Trading Centre, in Musanze District, was marked by a big gathering that paralysed business in the town as supporters clad in green T-shirts and caps, engaged in music and dance.
The presidential hopeful, who talked of his vast experience in administration cycles, was accompanied the party president Protais Mitali, and a team of PL campaigners and supporters escorted by a musicians whose lyrics mainly centred on his manifesto.
Introducing the candidate, Hon Ignatienne Nyirarukundo, said that democracy which has thrived within the country has helped the party to come out and articulate their agenda which rotates on promoting justice, and public involvement in decision making.
In his speech, Higiro promised his supporters to promote good customer service delivery from al government institutions saying that there will be a special monitoring programme to ensure that everyone gets good services at all levels.
"As a party, we know what Rwandans need, we understand the existing problems I therefore want to use my experience in public administration to champion development programmes, especially in health, infrastructure and ICT in the rural communities,” Higiro said.
