RWANDA’S Yves Sikubwabo will be on the 5000m track this afternoon as the IAAF World Junior Championship at Moncton, Canada continues.
The 17-year old athlete is making his debut on the world stage and will among others compete with the likes of David Kiprotic Bett of Kenya (13:20.63), Ethiopia’s Belete Assefa (13:18.40) and Uganda’s Moses Kibet who has run 13:21.81 this year.
The teenager is using the championship to prepare for next month’s Singapore Youth Olympic Games set for August 14-26.
Other athletes in the fray include Kenya’s John Kipkoech (13:35.06), Japan’s Akinobu Murasawa (13:38.68), Uganda’s Joseph Chebet (13:52.09) and Morocco’s Hicham Sigueni (13:47.47).
