Path to Success international school whose students were recently involved in a bus accident has called on the public and media to exercise prudence in reporting the afflictions.
Monday, January 9 was a dark morning for the school and families whose 30 students, a teacher, and a driver were involved in an accident in Rebero area, Kicukiro District as the school indicated in a statement.

"The school has been shaken by this unfortunate incident and is doing its very best to support the students and their families in these difficult times,” stated the communique signed by the school director, Salila Machiels.
According to the school, 17 people, including the driver and teacher who were in critical condition were taken to the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK) by an ambulance while the ones who sustained minor or no injuries were attended to and discharged on the same day.
Unfortunately, between 7 and 8 pm on January 9, one of the four pupils who were under observation and treatment at CHUK, passed away after undergoing surgery. Condolences to the bereaved family from officials and members of the public poured in.
"As of January 10, one injured student who was taken to King Faisal at the time of the accident is currently undergoing treatment while the remaining two students and the driver are still in CHUK and responding well to treatment and soon to be discharged,” the school noted.
This is as the other 12 students who had minor or no injuries were taken to different hospitals by their parents yesterday for check-up and all went home.
Hence, the school pointed out that: "Due to the sensitive nature of this matter, we kindly urge the public and the media to exercise some restraint in their reportage as well as respect the privacy of all victims, especially the family of the deceased.’’
Initial information from the Traffic Police department indicates that the bus had a mechanical problem with its wheel system.
