Business almost came to a standstill in Gasabo District as the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) continued its campaign drive for its candidate, Paul Kagame.
As the rally proceeded, Xaveline Akimana testified about how her life changed tremendously under the leadership of President Kagame.
She said; "right after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, I fled the country with my family but President Kagame’s leadership recalled us back home.”
"We had lost all our belonging but in a surprising twist, the authorities ensured that we get back our properties in the quickest time possible.”
She continued saying that on top of getting back their family property; they received a cow and have since subscribed to Mutuelle de Sante.
"This is my dream life I am living now; I never thought I would ever live this life anywhere. There are many women out there who are like me and have benefited from President Kagame being in power, and this is why all women will vote for Kagame,” she said.
Her testimony was followed by a landmark and seemingly one of the most exciting campaign speeches recorded so far, by the Party Campaign Manager in the district, Robert Ssali.
In his address, Ssali referred to Kagame as a ‘gift of Rwanda, a God-sent savior of the nation and a man who decided to sacrifice himself for his nation and his people’
"If you vote for him, you will be blessing your nation; no Rwandan will ever take black tea, every national will have milk and cows, every sector will have electricity and clean water. I take full responsibly of my words; vote for Kagame and he will answer all your needs.”
The RPF Commissioner in charge of Agriculture and Rural Development, Monique Mukaluriza said that; "Kagame wants a firm and unshakable Rwanda built on sounding economy, a nation without grass thatched houses and he intends to boost the social welfare of the citizens if you vote for him,” she said.

Meanwhile all roads in Kicukiro District, yesterday led to Nyarugunga Sector where thousands of RPF followers converged for the party campaign rally.
At the event, party supporters danced to the tune of the newly released songs by the local artists praising Kagame for his achievements during his term in office as they walked towards Kanombe Military Barracks to celebrate all that was achieved in the district.
Member of Parliament, Agnes Mukazibera presided over the function which was also attended by other government officials who included Kigali Mayor, Dr Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, East Africa Legislative Assembly Member Abdul Karim Harelimana and the District Mayor, Paul Jules Ndamage.
Mukazibera, who observed that the achievements such as justice, gender equality and infrastructure only became a reality during Kagame’s reign, urged all Rwandans and Kicukiro residents in particular to vote him back into office to consolidate this.
"It’s only under Kagame that all the country’s development programmes are put in action instead of mere words,” the law marker said.
