KIBUYE — Scores of students on Monday failed to report to their respective schools due to lack of travel means. The problem was largely aggravated by the scarcity of fuel which has rocked the country and sudden increase in the number of travellers.

Hundreds of students remained stranded at the bus stage at Nyakariba. Basically, taxis traveling to Cyangugu, Karengera, Mubuga, Mugonero were the most scarce.

"I am afraid I will reach school when my colleagues have finished doing supplementary exams,” said one anxious student, Fauste Munyaneza.

The fuel shortage which recently prompted the government to institute fuel rationing has also led to increase of transport fares.
