NYAGATARE - Oxfam Great Britain has donated solar energy panels worth Rwf9million to Rwebare Secondary School in Gatunda Sector, Nyagatare district.
Emelien Bisamaza, the school’s head teacher, said the donation would solve their power problems.
"Solar energy is a solution to electricity problem at our school. With it we can now perform very many duties,” he said in an interview.
The system has a capacity to serve over ten desk top computers, a printer and water heaters simultaneously, according to technicians who installed the sun-sourced energy.
The school has over 245 students undergoing computer training, said Bisamaza.
Handing over the facility, Justin Bizimana, Oxfam Great Britain’s programme officer, urged the school administration to put into good use the donation.
"This donation is a continuation of Oxfam’s activities of developing this school. You should ensure its safety for it to last long,” he said.
Jean Pierre Musabyimana, a senior two student, said he looked forward to more entertainment at school now that they had got power.
