Top flight side Bugesera FC have announced that head coach Etienne Ndayiragije is leaving the club with immediate effect after both sides mutually agreed to terminate his contract.
Sources close to the club say that the management decided to part ways with the Burundian gaffer due to poor run of performance.
"The management of Bugesera FC and head coach Etienne Ndayiragije have mutually agreed to terminate the contract. The technical staff will take charge of the team’s training sessions as search of a new head coach continues,” reads a statement shared on the club’s social media platforms.
Ndayiragije was appointed as Bugesera head coach in January 2022. He leaves the club sitting 12th on the league table with 18 points.
Bugesera was touted by local pundits as one of the teams to watch this season after having an impressive pre-season during which they won five games and lost just once.
However, the Nyamata-based club is languishing on 12th position on the 16-team league table with 18 points after 15 matches.
Ndayiragije previously held coaching stints with the Tanzanian national team 'Taifa Stars', Tanzania Premier League sides KMC and Azam as well as Burundian giants Vital'O.
