STRIVE Foundation, a local NGO, has established a programme to create artifacts from waste materials that would endanger the environment. About 30 widows in Karuruma, Gatsata sector have joined the foundation to be trained in making artifacts from waste materials like, plastic bottles, paper and toys.

STRIVE Foundation, a local NGO, has established a programme to create artifacts from waste materials that would endanger the environment.

About 30 widows in Karuruma, Gatsata sector have joined the foundation to be trained in making artifacts from waste materials like, plastic bottles, paper and toys.

The waste materials are being recycled to make trays, office utensils and other art pieces that can be used as decoration.

"We started this recycling programme to protect our environment, as well as earn a living,” Bernard Muramira, the founder of Strive Foundation told The New Times.
