Long time ago in the reign of hyenas they had a king. Which king they thought was not like them because of the odd way he appeared to their place of conquest. He came from the thick and scary forests.
This king was also bi and strong but what made him look more superior than all other hyenas was his face which was different from theirs in color and shape. Due to this, they thought he was born to be a king and no one opposed his orders and commands as they all believed him to be a true ruler.
When the hyenas went hunting, they brought half of what they got and gave it to the hyena king as tribute. Failure to do that meant receiving a severe punishment from the king. This made the hyenas respect him out of fear.
Years passed by and the hyena’s got used to the odd hyena’s growing brutality. One day some of the hyenas sat down and plotted against the king.
They decided not to hunt anymore but rather hide some of their prey within his courts, so that when it got rotten the hyena king could smell the stench. They wanted him to get hungry and see if he would eat rotten meat like other hyenas.
The next morning, they went hunting and came back with nothing. When the king asked them why, they said that the forests had been burnt down the previous day and all animals had evacuated therein. Five days later without anything to eat, the hyena king smelt something rotting and went in search for it.
Meanwhile, other hyenas hid in nearby trees to see the king’s reaction to the smell. With the hunger of five days, he swallowed it quickly and the other hyenas saw him finish it all.
With that, they found no difference between the king and them. The hyenas rebelled against his reign and chose other ruler among them.
Lesson to learn
People should not be quick to judge a book by its cover. Entrusting anyone with authority based on their physical appearance symbolizes little to the capacities and qualities of a leader. Instead look at their character and what they have achieved to know a true leader.
