KIGALI - Following the approval of the Physical Detailed Master Plan (PDMP) for Gasabo, Kicukiro and Nyarugenge districts, Kigali city has earmarked Rwf 180m to market the Master Plan both in and outside the country.

Alphonse Nizeyimana, Kigali City vice Mayor in charge of finance and economic development disclosed this yesterday in an interview.

"As part of making known the Master Plan to both local and foreign investors, we allocated Rwf 180m in the 2010/2011 financial year to advertise it,” Nizeyimana said.

Nizeyimana also revealed that someone was also appointed in Kigali city specifically to market the Master Plan.

"In this financial year we decided to put in more effort in marketing the plan for both nationals and foreigners who wish to invest to know where there are opportunities in each field of investment in Kigali city,” he said.

"We are proposing to advertise the Master Plan on major foreign Televisions. We have all the details entailed in the budget to make known the master plan to foreign investors through foreign media houses.”

The vice Mayor added that there are so many meetings held in foreign countries such as exhibitions where they showcase all investment opportunities in line with the Master Plan.

"We are also working hand-in-hand with Rwanda Development Board (RDB) so that all investors who come are shown the opportunities in the Master Plan.”

The completion of PDMPs for Gasabo and Kicukiro will cost over Rwf 2.3bn.

Meanwhile, Kigali city also boosted the One-Stop Centre with over Rwf 105m in its 2010/2011 budget to further ease the level of Doing Business and fulfil the Clients’ Charter.
