THE national football governing body, Ferwafa has confirmed they will send the U-17 to compete in this year’s Cecafa U-20 Development Cup scheduled for August 14-28 in Asmara, Eritrea.

The U-17 team will be using this regional tournament as part of their preparation for next year’s African U-17 championship which will be held in Kigali.

Ferwafa vice president Raoul Gisanura said recently that the friendly with Ghana on August 1 and the tournament in Asmara, the junior wasps will be good to go in the 2011 African Youth Championship in January on home soil.

"This will help the youth players to get used to competitions before they engage Africa’s best teams who will converge in Kigali for the continental trophy,” said Gisanura.

Besides hosts Eritrea and Rwanda, Sudan, Kenya, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia and Zanzibar are also expected to compete in the Cecafa U-20 Development Cup.
