Parental duties must include talking to children about sexuality.tal duties must include talking to children about sexuality.

Editor,

I’m pleased that a debate about sexuality was highlighted in the "Society” magazine that appeared in the Friday issue of The New Times. This issue is one that has given many a parent sleepless nights.

I think that the topic of sexuality should be tackled as early as possible because of the world we are living in now. With overt sexuality everywhere we look, be it the Internet, movies, music and fashion, I believe that if parents or legal guardians don’t talk to their children at an early enough age, the children will become confused and will take all the media messages as gospel truth.

And guess what happens? You will have children being sexually active at terribly young ages. Who really wants that for their children? Parents must stop being shy about talking to their children because if they don’t, their kids will get their information from elsewhere, be warned of that.
