Ideal interiors : Choosing the right curtains for your kitchen windows

I love being in the kitchen to prepare my family meals at least every weekend. Looking at my kitchen last weekend I was not at all impressed at how old it looked. As I was cooking, my mind kept on working about what to do to improve the look in my kitchen. I like cooking in a smart kitchen, so an idea to spruce up my kitchen to look nice came up, and I decided to change the old and tired looking curtains and get some new ones which will give my kitchen a facelift.

Curtains have a lot of purposes in the home spaced out from making the kitchen look immense. They come in many different styles, types, and colours giving you more of a choice to choose from. Taking care of a house is something that I and most women adore to do.

There are many trimmings and different things that you can add to any kitchen in order to give it an extra presence and to help make it look better as well

Curtains differ from every part of the house, so one has to careful when looking for kitchen curtains, it is important to consider few things:

Keep Kitchen Curtains Simple

Fancy swags and tails and elaborate curtain headings are more suitable for formal rooms such as the living room or bedroom. Keep the curtains simple in a kitchen to be more in keeping with the style of the room.

 Fabric Design

Choose a beautiful fabric design in a style which goes well with the theme of your kitchen. A contemporary kitchen, for example, needs a different fabric design from a country style kitchen. Curtains are a great way to add colour to the room especially if you have chosen neutral cabinets, tiles and flooring and you can generally ring the changes more often with curtains than you can afford to change your whole kitchen.

To enhance your kitchen style and feel, compliment the room with curtains that have a similar look and feel or bring life to an area with your preferred curtains. This means that if your room is a dark space due to lack of sunlight, it is advisable to use dazzling colour curtain fabric to add life to the kitchen.

If you have a kitchen with plenty of sunlight, choose a curtain fabric that can offer strong resistance to fading over time. For kitchen with abundance of light, blocking out the light and protecting your indoor furniture and carpets from the long term injure sunbeams can do.
Short is Best

Short curtains are just right for the informality of a kitchen. However if you use your kitchen for dining in the evening, and your window is able to take full-length curtains you may want to consider these for the dining area of your kitchen. Short cafe style curtains are great around the sink area. These give privacy while still allowing you to look out of the window and let in plenty of light.

Kitchen Curtains need to be Washable

Kitchen curtains are likely to get much dirtier than curtains in other rooms in your home with all the steam and grease in the air and because your kitchen curtains are hung in your kitchen, they are bound to get dirty more quickly than the curtains in the other rooms of your house.

You would have to take them out more often than the others so make sure that you choose a fabric that would give you an easier job during laundry time. Finally, never hang curtains near your cooking area for safety reasons. If a window is built close to a cooker, you might be better off with a blind than a dangling fabric.

Compose or buy curtains that are simple to take losing so that washing becomes less of a chore. For the kitchen unlined window curtains in easy care, easy washable material work best.

You may want to wash them regularly to prevent mould and mildew from growing and to keep them unmarked smelling and clean.

With these easy steps you can get your kitchen looking great without spending much.
