Four classrooms, a health centre and a Mosque that were funded by a family in Qatar, were commissioned yesterday in Nyamata Sector in Bugesera District by the Mufti, Sheikh Saleh Habimana.

Speaking during the function, Sheikh Habimana revealed that the construction of the three facilities was financed by the Fatuma family in Qatar to a tune of US$120,000 (Rwf 70,800,000).

"I am happy that our fellow Muslims in this area have got a new Mosque,” said the Mufti.

"I attribute this to the good leadership of our country because Muslims have been in Rwanda for over 100 years but we have only managed to improve after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsis”.

He called upon the Muslims in the area to take good care of the facilities. Sheikh Habimana urged the residents to participate massively in the forthcoming presidential elections slated for August 9 and urged them to exhibit discipline during and after the exercise.

Alex Rwumbuguza, who represented Bugesera District, recommended the Muslim community for the new infrastructure saying that this will improve the district’s health and education sectors because they wouldn’t only be accessed by the Muslims.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Sheikh Abdulla Al-Sada, said their family would provide more support to the Muslim community in the country.

According to Mufti, the family has financed similar projects in Rubavu District.
