KIGALI - The Police in the Southern Province are searching for an official of the yet-to-be registered Green Party of Rwanda who allegedly went missing in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Andre Kagwa Rwisereka, the vice president of the organisation, allegedly went missing from his home in Butare, Huye, Southern Province and his car – a Toyota Pick Up, was later found by villagers around the banks of River Mukura near the border with Burundi.

According to the Police Spokesperson, Eric Kayiranga, Police have begun carrying out investigations into the case but it is suspected the he could have fled to neighbouring Burundi through using a panya route (unofficial border crossing).

"The information we have is that he left a bar at around 1:30am, went to his sister’s house and asked her for Rwf 6,000 for transport. That is the last information the relatives have,” Kayiranga said.

"Police rushed to the place where the car was left and we are trying to follow any possible links to his whereabouts”.
