KIGALI - The findings of a commission that was set up to probe the activities of the Commuter Taxis Association, Atraco, will soon be made public, the Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, has said.

The commission was established when a number of drivers and employees of Atraco complained to President Paul Kagame during his visit to Nyabugogo in May.

Speaking to The New Times yesterday, Musoni said that the commission is made up of officials from his ministry, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Kigali City Council.    

"The commission’s work is still ongoing, but by July 25, everything will be done,” said Musoni.

Among the complaints raised are high parking charges imposed by the association and the salary arrears of over 130 employees of International Express, a subsidiary of Atraco.

The complainants also claimed that the association has poor management and that members are not benefiting.

The drivers also complained about the taxi park's current terrible condition putting blame on both Nyarugenge District authorities and the management of Atraco.
