JEAN Paul Munyankindi has signed a one-year renewable coaching contract with Southern Province giants Mukura.
The former Police coach will now lead the club’s hunt for a first trophy in over six years.

Mukura spokesperson Wellace Mungengana said that Munyankindi’s immediate task is to reinstate the club back into the ‘big four’.

"His main task is to make sure Mukura finish inside the top four in next season’s Primus league. Should he impress, he will be offered another contract,” said Mungengana.

Munyankindi will be assisted by former Mukura defender Canisius Nshimiyimana who recently hang up his boots.

On top of being part of Amavubi’s team which played in the 2004 Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia, he was also part of the 1999 Cecafa Challenge Cup triumphant side. The new technical bench is also under pressure to retain the genocide memorial tournament which kicks off this weekend.

Ali Bizimana resigned as Mukura head coach at the end of last season after helping Mukura to 8th spot in the Primus League.

In 2009, Bizimana nearly ended the club’s trophy drought only for the team to suffer a 1-0 defeat in the MTN Peace Cup final against Atraco.
