GICUMBI - Members of the private sector in Gicumbi District, Friday officially launched an exhibition to showcase their products at Byumba’s new Taxi Park,
The exhibition which will run for a week, brought together agriculture and livestock farmers’ cooperatives, MTN, Bank of Kigali (BK), BRALIRWA, Rural small and micro enterprise promotion project (PPPMER) and small scale traders, among others.
TheExecutive Secretary of the Northern Province, Deo Kabagamba, called on members of the private sector to increase the quantity and quality of their products in order to effectively compete with the rest of the East African Community (EAC).
"Production of high quality products shall earn you a wide market in EAC member states,”,Kabagamba pointed out.
He further called on all large and medium scale traders in the District to showcase their products at the exhibition, as it is the only way to market their products.
Mayor Bonane Nyangezi hailed the private sector for boosting the District’s economy.
"The private sector has contributed in boosting Gicumbi District’s economy which earned us the second position in the recently concluded performance contracts at National level,” said Nyangezi.
At the Bank of Kigali (BK),Gicumbi branch stand, the bank manager, Allen Muhongayire, said BK is committed to advancing loans to medium and large scale business people to boost Rwanda’s economy.
