I would like to bring to the public notice that cooking gas importers are making undue profit. RRA in a very positive move removed VAT from cooking gas.
RRA did this with the good intention of making cooking gas, which is a greener cooking fuel, more popular and affordable.
Unethical and profiteering businessmen are taking advantage of the fact that people do not know this. These businessmen have not reduced the price for the gas and are taking the 18%, they where collecting as VAT, and making it their profit. This means that the price for cooking GAS remains the same.
I sincerely hope that you will publish this letter and in due course these businessmen stop making undue profits and cooking gas becomes accessible to more people and helps make Rwanda a greener country.
