KAMPALA – Ugandan singer Cindy has refuted allegations made by the lead singer of the Army Jazz band, Sgt Robert.
"I know Sgt Robert. He contracted us to sing at the launch of his album on July 4.
He wanted to trick us into performing without first paying us our performance fees,” Cindy accused.
Cindy, formally in the Blue 3, confirmed that she was to perform alongside Rabadaba on the fateful day of Sgt Robert’s launch, but was drawn back because there were no projected plans of payments before they got on stage.
According to reports, it is a common practice by artistes in the region to demand for payments even before they have physically gone on stage to start a performance.
Sgt Robert had earlier slammed the Ugandan artistes for refusing to perform at the launch of his album on July 4.
"We had paid them to perform but they made us look like fools before their fans, who gathered at the venue,” Sgt Robert was quoted by The New Times.
