FORMER Amavubi and Mukura defender Canisius Nshimiyimana has retired from club football and is now eyeing the head coach position at the Southern Province side.

According to club spokesperson Wellace Mugenga, Nshimiyimana hang up his boots at the end of this season.
"He made his intentions clear but he needs to undergo a series of coaching courses before thinking of coaching at this level.”

"But he is going to take charge of the team as we look for a permanent replacement.”

"We have a memorial tournament coming up and he is most likely to be the man in charge of the team,” Mugenga said.

The head coach post is vacant following Ali Bizimana’s resignation. Mukura finished 8th in the just ended Primus League campaign.

Nshimiyimana was part of Amavubi’s team which played in the 2004 Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia. He is also part of the 1999 Cecafa Challenge Cup triumphant side.
