Kiziba refugees to get IDs
KARONGI - For the first time, Congolese refugees at Kiziba refugee camp in Karongi District are set to get refugee identification cards. According to available statistics, the ongoing exercise has targeted over 5000 refugees aged above 16.

KARONGI - For the first time, Congolese refugees at Kiziba refugee camp inKarongi District are set to get refugee identification cards. According to available statistics, the ongoing exercise has targeted over 5000 refugees aged above 16.
A joint team of government representatives and United Nations High Commission for refugees (UNHCR) delivered the cards to the camp.
Most of the refugees who spoke to The New Times expressed gratitude over this recent development.
"I am relieved because we used to get problems with security, especially at night.
Now there is a way of identifying myself,” Jean de Dieu Sekamana, one of the refugees said.
Kiziba refugee camp has existed for over 14 years and is home to almost 19,000 Congolese refugees.
