The recently appointed Ambassador to France, Jacques Kabale, Friday presented his credentials to President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The ceremony, which took place in Elysee Palace, was attended by Pierre Lellouche and Jean-David Levitte, Secretary of State for European Affairs and Diplomatic Adviser to the President respectively. According to a press release from the Rwandan Embassy in Paris, both are key figures in the French diplomacy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sarkozy expressed satisfaction with the resumption of cooperation between the two countries and recalled the good memories of the Rwandan people and President Kagame during his visit to Rwanda in February.

Ambassador Kabale took the opportunity to convey to Sarkozy, a message of friendship from President Kagame.

In the message, Kagame expressed his desire to rebuild a new partnership between Rwanda and France based on mutual respect, solidarity and partnership which, while contributing to the development programmes in Rwanda, will benefit both countries.

Ambassador Kabale was appointed, early this year, after more than three years of diplomatic impasse between the two countries. At the same time, the French government named its envoy to Kigali.
