So, Spain’s captain Iker Casillas doesn’t believe his team came to South Africa for the World Cup just to make up numbers or finish fourth. Reading what the Real Madrid keeper said in yesterday’s papers ahead of tonight’s clash with Germany, it will be interesting to see whether he can actually back his words with actions.
So, Spain’s captain Iker Casillas doesn’t believe his team came to South Africa for the World Cup just to make up numbers or finish fourth.

According to Casillas, Spain’s semi-final against Germany is the most important match in the nation’s history. Even more important than their Euro 2008 victory!
The European champions can be proud regardless of the outcome of tonight’s game. Win or loss, Vicente Del Bosque’s side has already made history by progressing to the semi-final of the tournament for the first time.
Truth be told, Spain have not played their best football in the tournament, they haven’t hit top form but still they’re in the last four and only a fool can bet against them ousting the favorites, Germany.
"We did not come here to finish fourth,” Casillas said. So, to him, defeat in the semifinal is not an option, which means they came to try and become the first Spanish team to in history to win the world title.
Yet, while the Germans have already showed they have right formula to walk away with the top prize, we’re still waiting to the best from the Spanish and in tonight’s game, regardless of you think, the best is going to win.
