KARONGI - Hundreds of residents turned up, yesterday, in Karongi district for driving license tests. According to Police statistics, 981 were expected to participate after the two-day exercise.

But by press time those who passed were not yet confirmed. According to available lists, drivers who were seeking to add various categories to their driving permits totaled up to 306, while the rest were first time applicants.

Those who did not find their names on the lists yet they registered were allowed to sit the test.

"I have been missing a driving permit in order to get a promotion at my place of work. This is a very memorable experience for me,” Edward Kalisa, one of those who passed said.
