While RDF’s main mission is to defend the territorial integrity and the national sovereignty of the country, this has been expanded to include active participation in humanitarian activities, foreign peace keeping missions, as well as contributing to the development of the country.
During the ongoing Army Week, our troops have reached out to Rwandans at the grass root level and helped them in various humanitarian activities. The Rwandan people have benefited from dental care, eye operations, home, bridges, and classrooms construction to mention but a few.
Through RDF’s model farms spread out in various parts of the country, our troops have shown that they are part and parcel of the country’s development process and are determined to see the Rwandan people free from poverty.
Going beyond our borders, the troops have been exceptional in the various peace keeping missions, earning the respect and admiration of their hosts and bringing pride and dignity to Rwanda.
The RDF has demonstrated the same spirit and determination it had during the struggle to liberate the Rwandan people from the fascist regime that culminated into the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Such attitude has not only helped build a professional force that has guaranteed the security of Rwanda, but it has also contributed to the development of our country.
