RWAMAGANA - The Liberal Party (PL) Presidential nominee, Prosper Higiro, in a meeting with party members in Rwamagana District yesterday, called on the party faithful to brace themselves for the campaigns.

At a workshop that attracted all PL representatives from Eastern Province, Higiro, who received a standing ovation by party members in Rwamagana, told the representatives that with proper structures right from the grassroots, the party could sail through the presidential election.

"PL is 19 years old in politics…it’s not immature, and its ultimate aim has been to win presidential seat. Such a seat helps a party to implement its principles, which are Democracy, Justice and Development,” he said.

"And as a candidate, I am ready for the contest. I have the will and capacity; I will not let you down, and I am sure we will win.”

MP Charles Kamanda, the party provincial chairman, emphasized the need for party members to make wise decisions during the campaigns and elections.

He said that the party will very soon disseminate documented guidelines, to help PL followers stick to the electoral procedures.

"You must contextualise the dos and don’ts of the elections, right from the campaign to the polling day. It is also important for you to know your rights,” he told the members.

Joseph Higiro, one of the party representatives told The New Times that the party is ready for the campaigns and subsequent elections.

"We are a strong party, what we are going to do, is to streamline the existing structures. We have designated areas for campaigns in the run up to the elections,” he said.

PL will kick-off its campaign in Kirehe and Ngoma districts in the Eastern Province.
