Prime Minister Bernard Makuza has called on African countries to fully exploit the export opportunities that China has to offer to the continent.
The Premier was speaking during a one-day business meeting that took place yesterday at the Pudong Intercontinental Hotel in Shanghai, China.
"Partnering with China will continue to open up export markets, stimulate domestic competition and investments, and local manufacturing industries in a manner that is mutually beneficial,” a press statement sent to The Sunday Times yesterday quotes the Prime Minister as saying.
The meeting was organized by the Rwandan Embassy in China, in collaboration with the RDB Nodal office in China.
Makuza stressed the important role of Chinese investments, describing them as a springboard for generating employment, particularly in manufacturing, mining and construction.
The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Emmanuel Hategeka and Vivian Kayitesi, the acting head of the Investment Promotion and Implementation department at the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).
Kayitesi gave an elaborate presentation on investment opportunities and Rwanda’s promise to investors willing to start a journey of unending rewards doing business in Rwanda, the top global reformer.
Today, 350 people including the Rwandan Diaspora in China will participate in the official ceremony to mark Rwanda National Day at the Expo.
This will be followed by the Urukerereza cultural show expected to attract thousands of spectators later in the evening.
