Sen.Mukabaramba joins Presidential race

Senator Dr Alvera Mukabaramba, Monday, announced her intention of vying for the country’s top office after she tendered in her candidature to the National Electoral Commission (NEC). Mukabaramba will be standing on the Party of Progress and Concord (PPC) ticket in the polls slated for August 9.

Kagame, COMESA SG discuss regional issues

On Tuesday, President Paul Kagame hosted at Urugwiro Village, the Secretary General of the Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA), Sandiso Ngwenya, where they discussed several issues concerning the regional economic bloc.

Ngwenya, who was in the country to deliver a formal invitation to President Paul Kagame from Swaziland’s King Mswati to attend the COMESA 2010 Summit in Mbabane, told the press that his talk with the president centred mainly on COMESA-EAC-SADC Tripartite.

Suspects in Kayumba Shooting not Rwandan

South African authorities earlier this week revealed the identities of the four men arrested on suspicion of being involved in the shooting of former Rwandan Ambassador to India, Kayumba Nyamwasa in Johannesburg two weeks ago.
 Several reports emerging from South Africa indicate that the attack was a result of a botched robbery rather than an assassination attempt, as earlier alleged. Rwanda had requested South Africa to extradite both Kayumba Nyamwasa and Patrick Karegeya, to face Criminal charges.
 
Common market comes into force

Thursday this week, Rwanda joined the rest of the East African Community (EAC) member states in launching the common protocol. The protocol seeks to allow free movements of people, goods, services, capital and labour within the region, a move that is expected to boost economic growth in the five member states.

PS-Imberakuri abandons quest for presidency

PS- Imberakuri, an opposition political party, has announced that it will not field a candidate in the August presidential polls; the move was announced this Thursday by the party president Christine Mukabunani.

"The party took the decision due to internal problems, our party is still undergoing a re-building process after being nearly destroyed by its former president. We therefore want to concentrate on revamping it and bringing back the confidence among the members,” said Mukabunani.
