Rwandan Police have handed over to Kenya a stolen vehicle that was recovered in Rubavu District.

Two Kenyans nationals suspected to have stolen the vehicle were also extradited, and they have been identified as Joel Ndungu and Elijah Mutuma Mbinjwi.

According to Police, on June 10, a Mitsubishi truck registered number plates KAU 994 G was stolen from Kenya and after only three days, the truck was found in Rwanda.

"After being informed of the theft by the owner of the vehicle, Kenya Interpol did its intelligence and shortly after gathering information that the truck had crossed to Rwanda, immediately informed us. That is how the truck was discovered in Gisenyi town,” reads a statement from police.

The police indicated that the suspects have so far pleaded guilty and said that they had come to Rwanda to sell the vehicle.

"After negotiations between the Rwandan and Kenyan police on how to treat the suspects, the two parties agreed to let them face justice in their own country and it is from there that the Rwandan Police sent the two men to Kenya,” the statement says.

The owner of the truck, Joyce Wambui Mbugua, also a Kenyan, expressed her appreciation to the authorities after receiving her vehicle.

"I am so happy; I have liked Rwanda because there is no corruption in the country. On top of that, I want to thank the Rwandan police for helping me get my vehicle. You are really good people,” said Wambui.

Meanwhile, since the beginning of this year, the police have seized five stolen foreign vehicles; three of them were from to Kenya, one Tanzanian and another one from Burundi.
