U-19 cricket team named

RWANDA Cricket Association (RCA) has announced a strong 14-man squad for the upcoming ICC Africa Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Division 2 tournament in Swaziland. The event, which is the first of two qualifying rounds, will be held in Big Bend from July 26-30.

RWANDA Cricket Association (RCA) has announced a strong 14-man squad for the upcoming ICC Africa Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Division 2 tournament in Swaziland. The event, which is the first of two qualifying rounds, will be held in Big Bend from July 26-30.

The list includes Eric Dusingizimana, Audifax Byiringiro, Jean Claude Siboniyo, Evode Mutuyimana, Derrick Bayingana, Bob Songa, Joseph Tuyishime, Christian Mwijanda, Fiston Nsengiyumva, Desire Manirambona, Eugene Haragirimana, Jules Ishimwe, Dieudonne Mugisha and Rene Bagirishya.
Samson Nkurunziza and Eric Ndangamyambi are waiting in the wings.

The team is under the direction of U19 coach Joshua Mwanja (ex-Ugandan international) and team manager Eddie Balaba Mugarura.

Rwanda’s opponents include Nigeria, Ghana, Mozambique, Swaziland and Gambia. After a round robin format of play, the top team will qualify for the final qualification phase which has the likes of Uganda, Kenya, Namibia and Tanzania among others.

The five-day event will be held at three venues; Ubombo Country Club (turf wicket), Sisekelo High School (synthetic surface) and U-Tech (synthetic surface).
