Gallup, an International polling firm, this week, released poll results indicating that the majority of Rwandans are optimistic about their country’s economic future and believe that their lives are getting better by the day.

The report is based on a research conducted last year, where all respondents were asked one question –"Right now, do you think the economic conditions in your city or area where you live, as a whole, are getting better or getting worse?” In Rwanda, 62 percent of the respondents said things were getting better.

Indeed, this great success is the outcome of focused leadership and hard work. The government continues to put in place policies that have enabled the country to grow economically, consequently reducing the levels of poverty among the Rwandan people. 

This is one of the steps towards a long journey to transform Rwanda into a middle income country. There is no doubt that this is the first government in this country where the people are experiencing the results of the good economic policies.

Rwanda’s leadership has shown the determination to improve the living standards of the people through various ways. They have encouraged the growth of the private sector and turned the country into the ideal destination for investment.

In the World Bank’s latest doing business report, Rwanda emerged the top most reformer, after putting in place policies favoring the setting up and running of businesses in the country.

If everyone took advantage of the various policies, it goes without question the Rwandan people will soon be free of poverty.
