According to the budgets read last week, over 270 vulnerable families will be settled in all districts.
In Kicukiro, over Rwf 936m was set aside to help and support 40 families get shelter, 10 of them Genocide survivors.
In Gasabo, 92 families will receive shelter to the tune of Rwf 193m while in Nyarugenge the 123 families relocated from Nyabugogo wetland in Kiruhura will be built houses.
The families were evacuated in 2006 following the demarcation of Nyabugogo wetland. Kigali city allocated Rwf 222m in this housing project. According tt Bruno Rangira, Kigali City’ Council’s (KCC) Public Relations and Communications officer, Rwf 112m will be provided by Nyarugenge District.
"This is a joint exercise and KCC will provide only Rwf 110m while the remaining will be provided by Nyarugenge,” Rangira said.
The KCC funds, Rangira said, will also service the loan (Rwf 52.5m) for the 15 families resettled in Batsinda Village, Kinyinya Sector in Gasabo District.
The families are among the 126 expropriated from lower Kiyovu, in Kigali in 2008 which is now part of the Central Business District.
