Africa hairstyles varied and they usually signified ones status depending to most tribal customs.

According to some customs the people were defined by their kind of hair styles for example the Rwandan girls where differentiated for the married women depending on the way they combed and shaved their hair.

The unmarried Rwandan women combed amasunzu (hair style) similar to the men but when the woman got married she cut off the amasunzu.
