NYAGATARE - Police in Gatunda sector, Nyagatare district are holding a woman for alleged murder attempt.

Police officials at Gatunda Police Station told The New Times, on Wednesday, that Budensiyana Mukarugege was arrested after attempting to murder her husband through hired assailants.

‘One of the people she hired to kill her husband reported and we immediately arrested her,’ a Police official said.

The suspect said she wanted her husband dead because of the long standing land wrangles they have been involved in.

According to Police, Mukarugege paid another accomplice to the murder plot, Jean Pierre Dushimimana Rwf40,000 in order to kill her husband.

However, speaking from Gatunda Police Station, Dushimimana said that rather than follow Mukarugege’s instructions, he decided to report the case to police. ‘I felt very scared of committing such a crime and I immediately reported her,’ he said.

Speaking to The New Times, Mukarugege pleaded guilty of attempting to kill her husband and asked for forgiveness.
