Reading The New Times, I learnt that the University of Kaiserslautern will donate science equipment to the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST). This kind of academic exchange should be mirrored by the other universities in the country.

This exchange doesn’t have to be merely about equipment, but rather more diverse. There can be a student exchange programme, a lecturer exchange programme, and lots more.

Our universities shouldn’t be merely receptacles of other people’s largess, but rather an equal partner in the global knowledge field.
